Lawyer Christopher Cabilen, university officer-in-charge, yesterday said the search for a replacement of resigned Dr. Jesus Antonio Derije, USM president, could not take off because the selection committee does not have the required R1-million operational fund. He said the Commission on Higher Education had earlier ordered the sourcing of the operation fund from tuition fees. However, Cabilen said, an inventory of the university cash assets unveiled a R5-million deficit. (Ali Macabalang)
