hey all! im turning in this assignment for my reading class tomorrow. check it out! Ben Helm 1/27/14 This article was about my favorite rock group, The Replacements. It was right when their 1989 album Dont Tell A Soul was about to hit stores and it was a big commercial transition for the band. People criticized them for selling out and the story touched on the band defending those allegations from their critics. It also talked about the groups frontman Paul Westerberg, and how he was able to come into his own skin from trying to pretend he was someone he wasnt to embracing what he truly was. The article also talked about how he lied his way into the band. Ive come to grips with the fact that Im an artist. For years I pretended I wasnt. I pretended I was a punk, a rocker, a drunk and a hoodlum. Im not a hoodlum. Im a f#@&!%g artist. - Paul Westerberg This was a very exciting read for me and it was very easy to understand because I love music and I respect musicians who do what they do not because its popular, or to please others, but because it makes them feel good. That is what being an artist is all about through my eyes. It was not hard at all to focus on what I read primarily because it was a subject that really peaked my interest. I remembered enough of what I read to write this essay a few days after I read it.
