hi all, just gone out on these new ones... orders now positively - TopicsExpress

hi all, just gone out on these new ones... orders now positively encouraged! going VERY quick though already.... Hey all, Hope this finds ya well… LOTS to pass on here, 2 new LPs, 1 with an accompanying release show, then a repress of the Soundcarriers album…. Gonna’ get crazy I suspect! Firstly let me just say this is the mailorder folks list, if it slips out to dealers, yours is to follow…. I don’t normally like to release quite so much in one hit, I’m sorry to skint you but I will try and cut a few corners price wise here with incentives for taking both new releases etc… Anyway here’s the sales pitch:- GPS102 The Lucid Dream “Songs of Lies and Deceit” LP (coloured vinyl pressing of 500) ….ready end of June Cumbria‘s “The Lucid Dream“ finally unleash their debut full length this June, following 4 sold out 45s, steady press coverage and widespread acclaim for live shows which have seen them support everyone from Beefheart’s “Magic Band”, Death In Vegas, A Place to Bury Strangers and Spectrum. Previous descriptions of the bands’ sound has honed in on fuzz and drone heavy nods to Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized, BJM and The Heads, yet that somehow overlooks the pure pop savvy and stripped down acid drenched hooks a la the US West Coast and prime era Mary Chain and Beach Boys feel to tunes like “Heartbreak Girl” and “Love In My Veins”. To these ears, tips of the hat also include a favourable one towards Motown in places even, so to dig a wee bit here is no bad thing… A great album and a real grower and sure to build upon the great reviews the 45s attained with accompanying radio play and press attention from the likes of Gideon Coe, Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne and Tom Robinson. The band tour in support of the album including slots supporting label favourites Sic Alps and the Liverpool Festival of Psychedelia in September. Vinyl pressing of 500 is sure to sell out quickly- so we urge haste! The vinyl appears on The Great Pop Supplement here with CD/ Downloads via Holy Are You Recordings. (Green, Red and White platter vinyl too!) GPS107 Eat Lights Become Lights “Modular Living” LP (edition of 500 coloured vinyl on The Great Pop Supplement. CD / Dowloads via Rocket Girl) Following the quick fire sell out and widespread acclaim of the bands‘ second LP “Heavy Electrics“ in 2012, ELBL release their third full length via The GPS and Rocket Girl, just in time for Summer. Building on the bands’ trademark multi layered motorik groove, “Modular Living” adds a more organic, electronic approach in places. Where once, listening to Eat Lights might have focused perhaps on the adored kraut groove of Neu! / La Dusseldorf etc, “Modular Living“ seems to add the key ingredients of slow burning Popol Vuh and Cluster-esque pieces into the mix. Eternally building and evolving resulting in a far better balanced listen than the previous full lengths, arguably. The momentum attained with the last LP should build nicely here- rave reviews were pretty common spread via the likes of Stuart Maconie’s “Freak Zone”, Andrew Weatherall’s 6music show and Gideon Coe. Even a year on, tracks from “Heavy Electrics” are aired pretty regularly so the new full length comes at the perfect time for longterm devotees and the newcomer alike. Live shows are currently incredible- a real intense, dual drummer stage set up with these new tunes sounding just fabulous. The band play a number of shows in support of the album, including a slot at the always amazing Liverpool Festival of Psychedelia in September. The LP appears as a clear | white | clear striped coloured wax LP on The GPS and on CD/Download via the good folk at Rocket Girl- and in the build up to it’s release, check out the albums’ closing cut, the simply beautiful, predominantly electronic “Habitat ‘67” appearing as a Deep Distance (Kraut themed sister label to The GPS) 12” taster for the album here, late June. Gorgeous stuff…. OK, that’s the 2 new releases, also arriving in the next coupla’ days is the 250 copy repress of the recent ace Soundcarriers LP “The Other World of….”. Reason for repressing was to supply some stores who missed out first time round and almost all are taken up from orders from those shops. I will have a few for sale here, they’re on pink and mauve splattered vinyl and will go immediately … If you want one, order away BUT they are VERY ltd as 90% are spoken for already so don’t be surprised if I have to do a little refunding if you leave it long… Cost wise, let me first say if you want any one LP on it’s own it’s be £10.99, drop me a line for post etc, otherwise I’ll try and breakdown prices for both and all 3 below…. ALL 3 = £30 WITH POST INCL: UK £34, EU £36, REST OF WORLD £40 (huge climbdowns on postal charges I assure ya but I’ll meet those!) 2 NEW RELEASES = £20 AGAIN WITH POST INCL: UK £23, EU £26, REST OF WORLD £28 There is scope for bartering for regulars or larger overseas orders, …I can only say no! Paypal is best but PLEASE remember to list the items you want in the paypal note- also, and I keep forgetting this, it’s kind of some of you to send payment as ‘family / friends’ to save on paypal fees but downside is that it removes yr address, so again please list that in the note area! Otherwise I actively encourage family and friends / non fees payments!! Also I still have a few copies left of the recent Deep Distance 12” Eat Lights / Twelve which I can chuck in with any order here for £3 a pop no extra post… last few though. The Lucid Dream headline a night at the Buffalo Bar here in London tomorrow night (support from thelightshines too!) as a launch do for the LP and yours truly is spinning a few tunes between bands… OK, that’s pretty much it for now. A big thing to stress here before signing off is that these lps’ll be an absolute git to get out in bulk quickly. As a non driving/ bus to post office / juggling with job elsewhere / solo venture, some of you might well see these advertised elsewhere before you get yr own ok?! …but as a softener they will be cheaper thru’ me slightly. Basically, if you can imagine a Quasimodo like character struggling with 50 x Lps on his back on 27 trips down to his local post office pissing off all the locals, you’ll be spot on so bear with me! Cheers all, Dom
