hi, everyone...we could use a bit of help. On Sunday, an emaciated momma dog and her six newborn puppies came into the shelter as strays; poor little Holly as we named her, was weak and dehydrated but the puppies were strong and healthy. After a couple days in foster, Holly started to really go downhill, spiking a high temperature and necessitating an emergency spay. Her uterus was terribly bruised and necrotizing, and she would not have lasted another day. Fortunately a wonderful Golden retriever breeder nearby had recently had a litter and volunteered her girl as a surrogate mom while Holly recovers, so the puppies are in great hands. Holly is up on her feet and eating a bit this morning, so we are hoping she will be our Christmas miracle. Our special medical fund (the Snow Chief Fund) has taken a hit lately with several injured dogs and heartworm positive dogs needing treatment....if anyone can spare a little bit to help cover our costs for this little family, we would appreciate it.
