hi, if anyone fancies sending me any words of encouragment - TopicsExpress

hi, if anyone fancies sending me any words of encouragment or just some grief then follow the details below, it would be great to hear from you all, my mrs will post up my progress e-mail of how im doing....if your interested :-) Please feel free to forward this email to friends and family who want to follow your progress - I will be in the office from 9am on Monday 7 April, and will be more than happy to help anyone having problems once the race has started. You can call me on 08444 874064 or +44 7759 687103 from outside the UK, or email me at [email protected] Once the race starts (possibly 24 hours prior to this), a link will appear on the organisers website, entitled Write to a competitor - click on this and follow the instructions given to send the email. You will need the competitors running or DOS number - this can be found here, by searching on their name. Please send plain text only - anything else will be rejected - and please ensure you use the facility provided, rather than send emails to me, or via our website (marathondessables.co.uk). These emails are printed out daily and distributed around the bivouac each evening. It should be possible to see how any competitor is doing via the competitor list - this updates from checkpoint to checkpoint on each stage HOWEVER it has not been 100% reliable in previous years. There will also be a webcam at the finish of each stage, so you can see competitors crossing the line (remember to wave, guys....). You will find more details of how to follow your loved ones HERE - but PLEASE NOTE, these facilities will not go live before Saturday 5 April, and possibly not until the race starts at 8am Sunday! Competitors can send one email per day, plain text only, and to one recipient only. You will need to queue to do so. If you want to send to more than one person, you will need to ask the first recipient to forward your message on. The systems for emailing in and out are not linked in any way - you cant reply to an email received from a competitor.
