hi very one I took the academic module of IELTS test yesterday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Id like to tell you about some notes you may find them useful when taken into consideration. 1- first you have to know that the exam is neither easy nor impossible, it just needs you to practice and practice and then....practice. . 2-in the speaking test, answer questions in the same tense the examiner asks you; I remember I made a mistake. He asked: have you ever planted a tree? I said, no I didnt. you may find it silly while you are now reading but believe you might get confused as you want to answer quickly without hesitating too much. So my golden advice for the speaking test is to focus on the questions tense. there wont be a problem if you ask the examiner to repeat the in a polite way like saying: would you mind repeating the question, please?. . 3- In the listening section, you have to prepare you self very well for the multi-choice questions as they would be difficult when there are plenty of them with long answers. my recommendation here to you is to exploit your time intelligently and wisely; when you finish each section, they give you 30 seconds to check your answers, dont check answers and start reading next questions instead. . 4- in reading, always make sure you are answering the right question directly on the answer sheet. one important point here is to distinguish appropriately between (true, false, N.G) and (yes, no, N.G) as you may have them both in your exam. . 5- in writing, practice as much as you can on different kinds of essays, I practiced hard on charts( par, pie, table,..etc) but didnt practice process graph, as the luck would have it, I got (paper recycling graph) and it took me 28 minutes!! you can imagine that I was really on a harry for the task 2, so I couldnt write all things I used to write when practicing at home like some punctuations and some advanced structures. Above all, Im not sure if wrote some contractions or not because my concentration was at its lowest levels as I need to finish before I run out of time. my advice here is to practice all essays kinds for task1. and for task 2, prepare some sentences to use as an introduction or conclusion. there are plenty of them on the web. . finally I want to assure you, it is not hard to reach your aimed score as long as you practice heavily before the exam ad do too many exams at home under test conditions. best wishes for you guys yours
