hmm non-residents? Is that the issue? Well Kyle Allen I lived here for almost the entire 8 years I have not received a raise. And I always viewed you as a police/fire supporter so this stance disappoints me. The fact that some do not live in the City is your reasoning for no raise due to tax base? How about you all look at the percentage of that budget going to public safety once you add back in the 6+ million from the 13 TIF Districts.. Those districts eat up the good tax base and you leave public safety to collect from a tax base full of abandoned properties! People that preach living inside the City when im sure the expensive clothes they wear and the vehicles they drive were not purchased in Gary. Oh and do they buy groceries at Ultra on Ridge Rd or County Market? Doubtful. The fact is, what would their thoughts be if they were a policeman or fireman.. As far as im concerned only Ron Brewer Knows what we do because he is the only person on that council that I know of that has been in a squad car on a real patrol shift without any agenda and just wanting to learn about our streets and what we do. If they are so about Gary, lets cut the budget and impliment a pay reduction for all of them highest paid council members and the Mayor and eliminate the Salaries of these fluff positions at City Hall. Quit buying abandoned houses and properties which removes taxes from the tax base because they are owned by the City so they dont count! Quit throwin the Sheraton in peoples faces when that building could have been down years ago simply for the cost of the scrap removed and the company was denied. How about you all fight for us as we fight for YOU AND YOUR SAFETY! Instead of lining the pockets of people that dont give a damn once the dollars stop flowing. All these people at City Hall will be gone and NOT live in Gary once Karen is gone and we all know it. But guess what? Us Resident-traitors will STILL be protecting the Citizens of Gary while They all go to Indy and everywhere else they are from. Because trust me, NOBODY is willing to get burned up in a building or get shot IF WE DONT KARE!!GPTC daily transports our residents outside the City to spend money, you dont cut them off. Yes I believe Karen was handed a turd sandwich and was expected to make it into Filet mignon but the fact is SOMEONE HAS TO CHANGE IT!!! And it all starts with all of the Members in chambers and the Mayor! #RaiseForPublicSafety #KareAboutUs #AsWeKareAboutGary!
