hmmmm......... the costliest (material wise costliest) gift i have got was a "Titan" watch given by my one and only students (i briefly worked as a lecturer for 3 months before flying to the UK). i was pleasantly shocked to receive it. I said i dont want it but they said they also dont want it back. It was a golden and black combination. I had it for several years and then it has disappeared all of a sudden...... it has gotten a frozen state and i dont think repairing it will be of any use even if i find it. just last week i caught one of my old but good watches in hand by chance. i buy watches passionately but keep it unused put it some where.
