homework helps reinforce things taught in school, it helps with time management and organisation skills, it will help prepare students for the future, practice makes perfect and there isnt enough time in school to do all the work, not because teachers give to much but because there is so much to learn. homework helps us learn and is a method of self assessment. I wont deny that there are times when Ive stared at my homework and wished it would disappear. I wont deny that many teachers assign loads off busy work. I am not advocating for busy work. I am advocating for the physics homework, that, though I do stress about it, prevents me from the unimaginable stress I would face later on taking a quiz or test without all that extra practice. I am advocating for English homework that forces me to think in new and amazing ways about what I read. I am advocating for math homework that allows me to see whether I am actually able to do what we did in class on my own. Homework allows me to do better; it is an invaluable learning aid. It should be kept, with, of course, the reminder that it should not be assigned just because a teacher feels like they ought to assign something, but because it will be helpful.
