https://facebook/LetsSpreadItAround/posts/368237023348358 This is well worth a read for many reasons but one thing I also drew from this article was a bit more insight into the mind of Eric Abetz the minister for employment. Staff in his department were offered just 0.5 per cent a year, along with cuts to conditions. In this weeks ballot only 77 voted in favour, with 1419 against. Abetz said the vote would achieve nothing, apart from potentially ensuring they got no pay increase at all. The government has made it clear that voting no will not mean that departments will have any capacity to make more generous offers, he said. Prime Minister Tony Abbott backed him, saying he would be surprised if anyone in the Commonwealth public sector received more than was received by the Defence Force. The attitude of Abetz is mind blowing, 95% of people reject an agreement and he takes the attitude that working people are ignorant plebs and just have to put up and shut up. Even his language is interesting he refers to anything above a 2.5% pay cut as more generous rather than less insulting I would love to see his department out on strike, maybe when all his emails went unanswered and nothing was being done around the office he may start to realise the value of his workforce?
