Well, Im glad to say that I have, after the wedding of Shiji and Edmond. In the Singaporean culture nowadays, its so hard to find an extraordinary wedding. Young people would choose to keep their wedding simple and intimate. But this is not so for Shiji and Edmond. Their wedding was the grandest Ive ever seen. Looking back at their wedding last weekend, it was a learning experience and eye-opener to see the professionalism in Mdm Yan, the mother of the bride and principal of Dance Ensemble Singapore (des.org.sg), and the dancers from DES. Guests attending the first night of their wedding celebrations were in for a treat. They were greeted by a grandeur of colours at the opening performance by all the students and also a splendid face-changing, or 变脸, performance (an ancient Chinese dramatic art, part of Sichuan opera) by the teachers and students at DES. Their wedding showcased the immense potentials of each and every dancer in DES. The night also starred local artiste Jiu Jian (玖健). The first night indeed gave everyone a reason to wow. Their march-ins during their wedding banquets consist of a Peranakan procession, together with their friends and relatives from the Peranakan Association Singapore, and the couple doing a duet dance in into the ballroom, this being Edmonds first attempt at dancing. During the Peranakan procession, one could see their intricate workmanship in the fashion of the Peranakan costumes, the baju panjang for the ladies and the baju lokchuan for the men, and also the embellishment of the Peranakan procession party. For their next march-in, Shiji and Edmond marched into the ballroom, serenading everyone with their song 深情相拥, followed by their first dance on stage. Id like to thank Shiji and Edmond for the opportunity to capture their wedding day. It was indeed a challenge initially, but Im glad to say all is well after the wedding. 接下来我也要感谢严老师给予我的机会，让我能更明白什么是作为舞蹈者的专业精神。 Last but not least, Id like to share a short dedication done by Edmond himself: 29th June 2013 Ive got many friends whove been asking me similar questions to why I am getting myself married to someone whom Ive only met for slightly more than a month, so I thought that it would be a good idea for me to share my experience here. As most of you wouldve known, Im the kind of guy that does not indulge myself with time for fun and games. Ive always wanted to settle down with a God-fearing person, and one who has the up-most respect for the concept of a God-fearing family — Shiji has all those qualities that I know will help establish that. I got to meet Shiji from one of my efforts to promote our local arts and culture, and when I first got to know her, it was not a very friendly encounter (lol) youll get to hear more about the whole story at our wedding day. Now, why am I given this privilege of marrying Shiji? Its not only because she is just a nice person that Ive decided to blindly propose to her. I know some of my friends wouldnt accept such an answer, but I was really unable to summarise everything into a short whatsapp message, I gave it some thought and decided that this is how I will summarise my feelings for her. Shiji is one that has the passion to excel in everything she does and is true in expressing her feelings for the arts. Through Gods grace, I was able to understand her God-fearing personalities; one who loves and protects her family members and friends. Blessed with the abilities to dance gracefully and to play the piano, I can only imagine a life filled with Gods love through someone who is as cultured and well-learned as her. As such, I want to thank everyone for your kind wishes. I am always reminded that we should not try and seek for the perfect soulmate, but in everything we do, we ought to build our relationship through love. I see myself being able to maintain such a life with Shiji and I hope that we may continue to be a blessing to others around us.
