A common tactic of many anti-gamergate participants is to use women as a shield. Gamer gate isnt about ethics, its about harassing women! Just look at Sarkeesian, Felicia Day, Brianna Wu and Zoe Quinn! Despite having zero evidence that any of those threats were legit or furthermore made by someone with actual involvement in gamer gate, opponents continue to try and smear the campaign, labeling it as a hate-movement. When confronted with the notyourshield hashtag, depicting thousands of women and minorities who support gamergate, they stick their fingers in their ears and shout youve just internalized your hatred for yourself! They want so badly to keep the reality of the situation in their favor that they outright ignore anything that disagrees or proves it to be total malarky.
