https://youtube/watch?v=7eTjNJANoO0 A very exciting young French musician who explicitly tackles the problems of playing Bach after Glen Gould. Lets face it, anyone familiar with Gould playing Bach, and the many voices and answerings he creates tends to find other pianists washed out and one dimensional. Listening to Fray I get the excitement I felt almost fifty years ago when My Grandmother Geidt gave me the first set of Goldberg Variations that Gould recorded. Then when he recorded them thirty years later at the end of his life...much slower and more introspective we were amazed...7 minutes longer to play the same piece as thirty years before. I realize this will be absolute Greek to many friend who have not had a chance to learn at least some of the vocabulary of Bach but give yourself a chance and click on some Gould playing Bach. If you listen a few times it will become a part of your soul.
