https://youtube/watch?v=MLZBbIFwMfI A lot of people ask me where did the title of Wei and my movie Di Tre Re came from. I got the inspiration from Honeggers Fifth Symphony. Whenever I listen to the first movement I fell like drawn into a surrealist painting, with the episodes of human history flying before my mind. The symphony is called Di Tre Re, which literally means the three Ds (as in the music note), because apparently, when Honegger wrote this music he suffered from insomnia due to his heart illness, with the sound of D keep ringing in his ears. Thus there is the note of D played by the bass ringing through out the symphony. This is how I got the original idea of expressing historical progression with a dream-like structure, with sustaining motives haunting through out the movie. Anyway the symphony itself is definately one of the best composed in the 20th century. Destroys most of the crap Shostakovich wrote. Christopher Talbot Shen Wei Warner Paau Sandy Starr Punya Vats
