https://youtube/watch?v=UEk1xZiWJF0 Hey everyone! This is something different from my usual orchestral compositions. For Christmas I received a Tascam US-1800 (interface). This interface is a step up from the previous one I had, in every way. One of the most obvious reasons, is that this interface has 8 inputs, for up to 8 mics, and 2 additional 1/4 inch inputs which can be for guitar line ins and some various other uses. However, a neat trick (which works) is that with a 1/4 inch to XLR cable, those two additional inputs can be used to record with two more microphones. (Meaning in total I could record with up to 10 mics at the same time). Of course, one of the main instruments to use so many mics in a studio is a drum kit. Drums being my primary instrument, I put together this video, as soon as I could. (configuring the Tascam so that it would work with Pro Tools took some time). This is a completely improvised drum solo which I recorded in to Pro Tools 10 using the Tascam US 1800. While I only used 7 mics, the end result still blew me away. I processed the drums through EQ and reverb, but very little compression, or any other effects/plugins. Tell me what you think! Thanks, and spread the word!
