We believe that every individual can make a difference in building a greener planet. We, as an enterprise, can play our role through promoting an eco-friendly business and limiting our impacts on the environment. With ‘Building green, Living green’ as our vision, our project aims at not only addressing some existing environmental problems, but also to further enhance sustainability in our resort. To handle the vast amount of food waste, we propose to deliver part of it to the recycling factories and reproduce it into fish food or fertilisers. This method can help to reduce at most 80% of the volume of food waste. At the same time, the products can also contribute to the plentiful fisheries and agriculture industry in Huizhou. Another suggestion is the heat recovery system which works as follows. It is a system installed in the white ceiling or wall mounted grilles which continuously extracting the dirty air from the wet areas. This dirty air is delivered to the heat recovery unit through the pipes. It then passes through the rotary wheel heat exchanger and give up its heat to the cold fresh air coming into the house before it is discharged outside. The highly filtered air is heated up to the required temperature by an electric heater to ensure no cold draughts, which must be avoided. The heat recovery unit controls the extra heat requirements automatically. The supply air thus can be delivered through ceiling or wall mounted supply registers, to all the rooms resulting in whole house heat recovery ventilation. Apart from the heat recovery system, we propose to adopt the grey water treatment. The system collects bath, shower water and from other sources. These grey water is then filtered and disinfected. The recycled water can then be uses as toilet flushing and irrigation for plants. It is estimated that the water consumption can be reduced by 50%. This method can significantly lower both the environmental impact and water costs, which is an effective system that is becoming more popular among many offices, warehouses and hotels. The last essential recommendation in our project is to carry out the hotel bike sharing scheme. We advocate cycling in our resort and this scheme allows our guests to enjoy the beautiful scenery around. This idea also promotes sustainable neighbourhood as it not only reduces carbon emission but also encourages the guests to have a healthy lifestyle. Every small step can bring huge changes. Through engaging in eco-business, we wish to limit our carbon footprints and maintain a harmonious relationship with the environment. More than that, we hope that we can share this message with other enterprises so to encourage more companies to practice eco-business. Green, is always our attitude, our way of living.
