https://youtube/watch?v=dexz2GmQ4r8 Folks I got a story you’re just not going to believe, you remember when my Irish friend Mickey introduced me to some of the boys down at the firehouse, Squad 288 here in Maspeth, last year well they all took a liking to me, especially Captain Longhorn and they asked me if I would like to join their fraternity band of brothers cos they could see I was all that and a bag of chips. And get this; they even wanted me to be their mascot at the St. Paddy’s Day Parade here in NY in front of millions of people and on National TV, their first ever, mascot that is. But they also wanted me to do two things which I found quite strange, be the last man in the parade, and to wear a kilt when we march down on 5th Avenue, and last but not least moon the folks as we marched down. Now I don’t know why I couldn’t march alongside of them, no, they say it’s an honor to be the closer. They always pick an Irish celebrity to lead the parade and that I should be at the end, this way we would have both ends covered. But I don’t see the lead guy mooning anybody the way they wanted me to. They said my job was the most important part of the parade so to be part of this awesome group of guys I decided to do it, why not; these are America’s finest, the brave men and women of the NYC Fire Department. How did it go, I thought you’d never ask, I was the laughing stock of the parade and to make matters worse I was later arrested for indecent exposure. And when I went to jail none of the guys showed up in my defense, not even did they chip in to post my bail. When we went to court the judge wanted to know why had I done what I had done and when I explained how I was chosen to be their first mascot ever and become one of their band of brothers he said I was lied to and that he would suspend the charges for time already served, fourteen days, and for being a nincompoop. The nerve of him calling me that, he should have said I was a hero in the line of duty, who else would have done what I had done. Now whenever I go to the fire house they all gather around smiling from ear to ear and laughing hysterically and say I’m the man. So I say to them, than if I’m the man can I do sleepovers and polish up their bells and they all agreed I could. How many days have I stayed over in the firehouse, not a freaking day, they always seem to have an excuse of some kind, like the Fire Commissioner is in town, or they’re having an inspection, or they’re going to paint up the fire house but something tells me they don’t want me over. Well I’m still proud to say I’m a part of them no matter what. Ciao and do enjoy Ben E.
