And this is one thing. We have a very strong tradition here and it is Folkets Park / Peoples Park where different Dance Bands sings schlager. It is often held outside and attracts people of all ages. Swedens first public park opened in Malmö 1891. The Social Democrats were forced to raise their own meeting places, as most landlords were reluctant to rent out the premises to the movement. Public parks were built, as well as the Peoples House, as a place for political meetings, but the parks were mainly used for recreation and entertainment. One reason for the building of the peoples park, on the side to create a venue, was also through entry, sales and raffles to raise money for the building of working-class organization. Alexander plays Boogie Knights singer ( 2 episodes ) Swedish Television 1997 and I think he is amazing and you can´t stop smiling : ) The guys are talking about what it means to be in a danceband and that singing schlager music most come from your heart. Alex says that they are wrong. Being a danceband singer means an uncomfy tourbus, eating cold sausages with mashed potatoes at a highway on E18 ( a large highway in Sweden ) and shag lots of moms from Fruängen ( a Stockholm suburb ) ENJOY!
