https://youtube/watch?v=iUpzle6BZ6w Officially debuting this video! Heres the backstory: About a week ago I spent some time with my friend, Patrick, scouting potential places to shoot this video. We came across one location on a beach in front of a quintessentially gorgeous, Connecticut light house. It was ideal. There were plenty of areas to stand with great backdrops to record. A big issue though, was that the wind coming in from the sea was going be rather tough to work around sound-wise. We came up with the solution that if we got to the beach in the early hours of the morning, the waves and wind wouldnt entirely wash out the audio. And I have to mention here that I owe my friend, Patrick, a great deal of gratitude for not only the suggestion, but in accompanying me on this ridiculous journey of happenstance. Not many people would willingly wake up at 4:30 in the morning on a cold, November Saturday to record video of the Sunrise for a friend. So we arrived with sleep in our eyes but we were still excited because our timing couldnt have been better. The sun was just starting to peek its head above the horizon, casting a neon-tangerine glow on still water of the sound. It was perfect. We walked out on a jetty of boulders to set up the few pieces of gear we carried with us. After a quick check of the audio, it was time to record. However, In our haste to get out on location early in the morning, both of us ended up forgetting to check how frigid the temperature was going to be. Had we known, hand warmers and gloves would have been mandatory. But still, we carried on in hopes that we could get something down quickly and that we would not be effected by the cold. As it turns out, finger picking, metal strings, and fall-morning frost at the edge of the sea do not really compliment one another. We were only able to get one full take as a test run and the other times we tried, my hands froze up. My fingers were clenching up to conserve their own heat and that made it feel as if they were individually moving mountains with each passing stroke. Needless to say, it became impossible to finish performing the song in full after that. We reconvened in the warmth of a car with the heat turned up to full blast. Our momentum was a bit thrown off but our morale was, thankfully, still high. I had another venue in mind that was indoors in case we needed a plan B. We drove off at once...
