Even for some of the stylistic decisions that I had faults with I was impressed by how I still felt very compelled by this story. The acting and the way they portrayed these characters were great. Ive been a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch for a while as hes continuously brought out amazing performances. What he achieves in the role of Alan Turing is not only one of the best performances of 2014, but one the best in the last couple of years period. He puts everything into this portrayal of a man who tries to be accepted in a world that criticizes you for being different. Keira Knightly is also fantastic and I love how shes portrayed as this woman who simply wants to be cared for no matter who the person is. I like how this movie showed a part of the war that is not often portrayed in movies and how it tells a story about someone who was condemned for being his own person. The faults I do have with this movie involve dialogue, pacing, and the non linear story telling. There was a lot of dialogue that was very cliched and clean. Also while the non linear storytelling worked in the end, it did take to fee like these different images were connecting together. But the acting and the portrayal of the characters were enough to get me invested in the film and I think overall thought The Imitation Game was a good but not great movie.
