https://youtube/watch?v=kX0AXzggoU0 I saw John Mayall playng live and solo on the Andrew Marr show on BBC one this morning--- he is 80 and has just releaed an album -------------he doesn’t seem to have aged at all since I last saw him in the flesh in 1969 his voice is strong and his harp playing is beautiful--------------sad that back in the day he was largely ignored by the then powerful mainstream media For any of you whippersnappers who aint never heard of John—he was one of the most influential musicians’ of the1960s------------ alongside Alexis Korners Rhythm and Blues Allstars,,the Graham Bond Organisation and Cyril Davies---John Mayall played a big role in the upsurge of blues music in the UK which led to the so called “british invasion”. Of this poosse John Mayall as the most significant-- his band the Bluesbreakers at various times included Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Paul Jones, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Peeter Green, John McVie, Mick Taylor, Dick Heckstall-Smith and Aynsely Dunbar. In fact if yu get the wh ole list of Blusbreakers and look at where they went afte leavin this outfit you could be frgiiven fortht hinking that ths was a finishing school for great musicians Hey this isn’t an obituary jphn mayall is alive and kickin- in fat he has atour on at the moment This groip of musicians who passed thru johns band went on to very successful rrees and many became influential tetheselves…tye ripples ouytwad led directly to or stongly influenced ifluencedd the development of tTeh Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Pretty Things, Fleetwood Mac , the Faces, Paul Jones Blues Band nd many mors-----Cream of course, Steampaket----- oh yes- andTremblin Wolf
