The trick is to focus the beam to a small volume of space to retain its power. The next invention is called a Maser microwave amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. Basically a microwaved focused laser beam. Invisible and deadly. Maser usually require temperatures close to kelvin to run, but new research has created Maser at room temps. Keep ya eyes out for maser tech people.
