https://youtube/watch?v=ppYM-JWvbiI Just finished watching Part 1 of The Menagerie. Another classic adventure and one of the many best episodes of the original series. Not only do we see footage from the original pilot episode The Cage edited into the two-part episodes storyline, we also get a glimpse into Spocks past and his earlier years serving under the Enterprises former captain, Christopher Pike. Our favorite Vulcan puts everything, even his own life, on the line to bring his former captain back to the world that they had once visited thirteen years before. A world where only Pike(recently injured in a space disaster with no hope of recovery)can be healed and live out the rest of years in peace. An act of friendship, loyalty, and sacrifice that would be heroically repeated eighteen years later when Kirk, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura, Chekov, and Sulu do the same thing for Spock in Star Trek III - The Search For Spock(Paramount, 1984).
