I agree, pink/breast cancer awareness hype is a colossal money-making fraud that sickens me beyond words. The same hypocrisy abounds concerning purported searches for The Cure re SCI, Parkinsons, ALS, Alzheimers, Diabetes, and cancer in general. A close study of PubMed for each of these conditions reveals that researchers have been rehashing the same lines of inquiry literally for decades, often producing virtually similar results. Loss of blood flow, for example, was known to be the critical element of acute SCI since 1978, so neuroscience has ever-since ignored this upstream cause of chronic paralysis due to SCI intentionally. Likewise, 100% of patients with severe ALS have no thyroid hormone T3 in their cerebral spinal fluid (according to a 1989 peer-reviewed study), so of course not a single research center has attempted to treat ALS patients by replacing their missing [CSF] T3. Over a decade later, ALS was the pretext used by Ian Wilmut (creator of Dolly the Sheep) to win a license to clone humans (if he could do it) in England--supposed as it might reveal how he might correct the mutant SOD gene. The only problem? Mutant SOD is implicated as an active component of ALS in less than 2% of ALS patients. Researchers in the above-cited 1989 study found ZERO T3 in the CSF of 100% {12 of 12] human patients. Its all about telling the desperate or trusting what they want to believe to entrench lucrative status quos...to literally profit from suffering, death, disability, and chronic disease. Its not just a matter of preserving medical costs, medical jobs, or ranks of patients needing care. It concerns billions of dollars of research funding and many thousands of research careers. It concerns vast pharmaceutical revenues, medical school tuition and enrollments, university teaching positions, biotech and research patents, royalties, licensing fees, and R&D, research journalism, non-profit careers that nonetheless reap comfortable salaries from non-profit donations, millions of dollars of advertising, etc. Most of all, it concerns you, those you love, and a trusting and gullible humanity that serves as an expendable herd for an utterly heartless economic system that feeds off our suffering, fear, hope, grief, and...ironically as its cruelest aspect...off our ability to care for others.
