https://youtube/watch?v=x81dU8fEFpw so here is where I heard it first. that drummer is Bernard Purdie. a great sessions drummer, who happened to be at the studio when Rose showed up, as I recall tim rose speaking in a midnite am radio interview back when the album came out. Purdie had a huge career with many of the funk and soul musicians of the time, plus more genres than that. arguably this album made the song as attractive to others as it became (tho one wonders if roses few lyric shifts warrant a songwriting credit). equally, arguably, the drumming of Purdie, on the entire album, not just morning dew (including, of course, the killer version of hey, joe, which was why I purchased it, way back then) made the whole dang thing the hit it was/is.
