i am amazed that after all why finance minister Arun Jaitly keep saying that UPA government did great mistake by introducing retrospective tax over the vodafones takeover of hutchvision issue. What does he want to give message though this statement. It seems he is giving a clear certificate to his predecessor UPA govt. that they were more conscious for revenue earning of the govt.rather than the present Modi government. the fact is that the introducer of this retro tax was none other than present president Pranab mukherji. Mr. Mukherji despite his credential of maker of Reliance group, brought this tax provision, because he thought this British telecom comp unduly took benefit of absence of laws related with capital gain tax at the time of acquisition and merger, being done in the foreign land. so Mr. Mukherji as a finance minister brought new retro tax law not for his own sake rather for raising the revenue kitty of govt. of India. Now Mr. Jaitley is saying due to this move investors got detracted with the country and since then we have a continuous lowering down of FDI. Mr. Jaitleys logic are purely pro corporate and pro MNC and also anti poor. At least his PM NaMo, who is also being called as friends of Adani and Ambani, but he never gives impression of being anti poor or helping corporates at the cost of govt. treasury . So Mr. Jaitley is pleading and protecting opportunist tax violaters and giving impression of supporter of anarchic laissez faire economy.I think that Mr. Mukherji was damn right on that move as a finance minister at that time.
