i am not usually political on FB, but this is ridiculous. i remember my dad, a successful man who owned the largest metal fabricating plant of its kind on the eastern seaboard, who had employees who made larger pay checks than he did. during skinny times, the CEO shared the hardships with his workers. when the union guys came around, the employees would show them the door. thats how business used to happen when CEOs, and doctors and lawyers, and such were just people. an Italian friend and CEO has the employees over to eat and for pool parties as we did at our home growing up. but greed is sinking us! we no longer care about the quality of our products--just the stock price. employers have gone from becoming friends with workers, to employees, to resources, to human capital! and thats how were referred to now human capital! while all of this happens, our healthcare mess gets worse and worse because medical, big pharma, and insurance hasnt been dealt with--they can set immoral prices until they break us. we cant do much about anything because these corporations run the show! those of us who are salaried (like its an honor?) are expected to work indecent hours that were unheard of a few decades ago (thank-you to unions). the rest of us are cut back to just enough hours so the corporations dont have to pay for benefits. the university where i work calls it a tax situation. and prices for necessary things like food, power, and fuel keep rising uncontrollably at the whim of those who benefit... we were warned by past presidents during the 20th century of secret societies and the dangers of the war machine we now call an economy. i am afraid that by the time we wake up as a people it will be too late--it may already be too late? and...please dont talk to me about democrats and republicans...as if either party is interested in representing the people? they are merely apologists we pay to facilitate our relationships with voracious corporations. and i watch as generations of us are entertained into a zombie-like state. (had my say now i guess--will delete this within an hour or so! just boiled over is all!)
