i am taken aback by the way we do things in this country !! the other day i saw Andrew Felix Kaweesi... (i dont remember his rank so i have not mentioned) saying things pertaining to security and as a result he says the some of the events organizers shall have to adhere to some stringent measures in the name of security. then shortly therein-after the same Andrew Felix Kaweesi now appears in another news item saying we parents who take children to schools shall have to stop at the gate, mbu in the name of security!! hence my ax to grind with this officer of the law -Mr. Kaweesi do you realize that on behalf of Uganda Police Force you have first of all created a security situation by this directive. we have a human and traffic jam outside the school gates, whereby its doesnt take a security expert to notice that it is now lot easier to have insecurity in such a space. -furthermore we have young children who dread school and cannot comprehend why they have to be punished by compelling them to walk to school, which can be counter productive for the childs learning process. - we as parents need to interact with the teachers on a regular basis to tract the well being and performance of our children and closing the doors on us removes this important system of checks and balances. - i wonder whether Mr. Kaweesi doesnt have children from whom he can get this information first hand because as a concerned parent its incumbent upon you to take note of this. - now like any well meaning Ugandan i am for security and as such have some proposed remedies. = let the status remain as has been. = compel schools and all of these other commercial places to have drive through scanner units at the entrance points so as to limit holdups . have the security officers at the institutions trained continuously so that they stay up to date with current security threats and keep them up to date with relevant mitigation measures for current security challenges. i rest my case and hope that some sanity will prevail in an already sticky situation. regards, Cconcerned and Disturbed Parent
