i have begun a new painting, it is of my mother with me as a child asleep on her shoulder, and it is starting to come to life. i am naming it to dream in peace, and i will pair it with the poem of the same name for the ocean. when i was a child, every morning i would wake up and climb into her arms and go back to sleep, and i dont think that i have truely slept ever since. without saying it, i know that she has wanted me to paint her since i began, but i had to wait until it felt right, i have to be inspired to create. my father inspired me by recently putting himself through two operations, and transitioning himself from wheelchair to walker to cane, fighting to get his life back, and so i painted tucs the great. inspiration is such a rare commodity, but when im inspired to create, im on top of the world!
