i have learned a valuable lesson :-) that being said apparently baby skunks can actually stink more then big skunks if given the opportunity :-) i think i needed Jenny Lee as possible back up (y) she proved to be very good back up at the desert with the great jack rabbit expedition !!! all that being said it started out rather harmless fun :-) we have been busy trying to get stuff done and running behind schedule as usual, we were feeding the cows with the tractor last night and it was about 9:30 pm when i was zipping along with the honda to open the gate :-) we fed the cows and was heading back to the barn to park the tractor and that is when i saw 4 baby skunks hauling butt :-) :-) i have always wanted a skunk as a pet (not so much now) so i decide to pursue them at a rather fast pace , well did not want to run them over with the honda and kill one so i hopped off the scooter to chase them on foot, they were very small about the size of small kittens, which you would think would be the perfect age to catch one and pet it (NOT) they were running pretty fast and i was right behind them a couple of them did stop and chatter at me and make funny little noises and about that time is when you could start to smell the stink and then they ran down a hole in the ground (Darn it) well then stink started to grow of which mom was laughing very hard and then she asked me did you get sprayed of which i replied i dont think so and i then smelled my hands and said nope i did not get sprayed at that point we decided to go as the smell was getting pretty bad so we went on and let cows out of the corral and go home to milk the goats Etc , so we get to the corral and it appeared that skunk smell had drifted across the whole ranch it was EVERY where, and at the point it is i realized that the skunk smell might possibly be coming from me :-) so upon further inspection in was confirmed that i had gotten skunk sprayed at about shin Level LOL luckily mom has a sinus infection and cant smell much, we finished at the ranch i took my pants and shoes off and threw them in the back of the pick up and we went home, it was pitch black out so i clumped up the steps of the house with no shoes or pants and went in the house of which mike informed me by his horrified look that i had not left my skunk smell in the truck LOL so after a good scrubbing i no longer smell like skunk ( and i still do think that a baby skunk would be fun to have but i will plan to catch him with a little more tact the next time maybe a fishing net ?
