i havent seen Paul Flowers since Young European Left days in the mid-1970s before i went to Lesotho but remember him as a man of principle who was at that time a Methodist university chaplain in London who campaigned against apartheid with Lord Soper and once famously handcuffed himself to a grille inside the South African Embassy on Trafalgar Square after getting through the revolving door wearing his dog collar ... he was also very congenial but used to smoke cigars which was a bit unexpected in a cleric even in that era of All Gas and Gaiters on the BBC! im surprised and alarmed that he didnt have a better grasp of the figures when chairing Co-op bank and sorry to see his name in the tabloids for allegedly wasting £300 on cocaine ... even if it were fair trade top grade Bolivian coca this suggests he is indeed wise to talk to a doctor about adjusting his lifestyle after a difficult year - and losing weight bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24998955
