i just came from the aldine animal hospital and noelle is stable, they had just washed all of the oil off of her, yes she was covered in oil, its common thing to see here in the south people use it as a way to cure mange on a dog we see lots of oily dogs in the shelters. they dont have the money to take them to the vet and think this is the way to deal with it.sadly we have a lot of lower income and uneducated people in houston and melrose park is a very poor area. she has demodex,heart worms is horribly anemic, her feet are swollen something awful and who knows what else, erin thought she was ready to die last night when she was transporting her to the vet she was just so exhausted.right now she stands a fighting chance. she was trembling all over and has a job to stand up but now that she is clean she should at least start feeling better, she is on an iv and they are pumping fluids into her, she wont or cant eat but they well start a feeding tube if needed,they have no idea on age as she will not let them open her mouth it is so painful but they are thinking 5 yrs old approx..the next 24-48 hrs will be critical for her and if she can get through those she has a very good chance of surviving, i dont think with all of the really sick dogs we have taken in over the years i have seen ones so bad as noah and noelle,it just makes me want to cry to think of all of the pain and suffering they have endured..may she live to se a brighter day...
