i know this has been the case in areas of some historical parts of some cities. A portion of the city of Brugge in Belgium does not allow cars in the streets. It makes sense to allow for the visitors to walk around the streets and not worry about traffic and the fumes of vehicles. This also allows for cafes and businesses to stretch out into the street a bit, and perhaps it allows fr easier planning for fairs and festivals. This article highlights the 7 cities that are keeping some of their areas car-free. I say BRAVO! ...in the case of Milan, even paying commuters to leave their car parked at home and take the train instead...
