i really struggled with this decision to go out west again.. my kids arent able to go with me… They looked at me and said Mom, I think this is a great opportunity for you….. their selflessness, and their ability to be happy for someone other than themselves gave me the courage to do something for myself, when previously I wouldve only taken a trip like this if it helped someone else smile….. or if it spread the word of the foundation, or had some other purpose other than for my own well being. (kinda made me feel like Im doing a good job as a mom… haha)….. I hope someday they will make time for themselves while still serving others when they grow to be my age, and are pulled in so many directions. I hope they remember the words they said to me…. And I hope they go through life knowing its okay to be happy, and to give themselves some me time. Balance. Its okay to have balance….. As a mom, and a previous wife…. I know all too well what its like to forget who you are. Im excited to be going on this trip with my best friend from childhood once again…… Im feeling a whole lot of I love every things and also slightly selfish by doing this…. but i believe its healthy to follow your dreams… and turn down your brain, while turning up your heart. The heart and the mind are always at war…. and Im on the hearts side. always. ;) Let the countdown begin, Lars! :) Im excited! Laurie Brockhoff Heenan
