i remember going to do a gig in exeter and i was paid £50 which for me at the time was like the shit. so i got a train down there, train ticket cost £80 and i was like, fair enough, alright, i might be able to sell some cds. so i got to the venue, did a sound check, waited around for a bit and it got to the time that i was meant to go on stage and there was no one in the room. the SOUND ENGINEER was like “you can wait half an hour and we’ll see if people turn up and then you can go on stage.” waited a bit longer, no one was in the room. sound man was like, “you could probably wait another 15 mins and get away with it but we have another band coming on after you so it can’t be too long.” so we waited another 15 mins, no one turned up so i got on stage and played the gig to the sound engineer which i was kind of fine with it but then i got to the train station afterwards and i missed my train and the next train was like 5 o’clock in the morning. on that train, on the way back, i was just kind of like, “i don’t think this is gonna work, every gig i’m doing, less and less people are turning up and i don’t feel like it’s going anywhere.” This is a quote from Ed Sheeran
