i remember in the early 80s borrowing a cassette album from clacton library - they used to have a small random selection of LPs and cassettes back then. this one was a compilation of punk covers of well known songs called "we do em our way". for a joke we decided to erase a couple of the tracks and record our own version of the song in question in the same place. as neither of us could really play or sing these were pretty bloody shit, but as the concept was punk covers it might have not been as obvious as with a normal album. i wonder how long that tape remained in circulation, as anyone who go it out would have thought a couple of the bands on there were particularly awful.
