i suppose i could get upset at society but instead i think im going to get upset at you, the reader. Someone threatened to kill this girl with fake tits and a love of classical music. This comes on the heels of people making death threats to a cosplayer and a game critic and on and on and on... Heres the thing - the Internet is filled with a couple hundred million 10 year olds who believe they are completely anonymous. There are several million mentally ill people (delusional, poor impulse control, etc.) with access to the Internet. There are hundreds of millions of Muslims and Christians who hate naked girls and have Internet access. There are also thousands of sharks who want to kill and eat this girl but they dont have Internet so we ignore them. The world is not more dangerous than it used to be anymore than it is more stupid or intolerant. What it is is more public. All the idiots who silently wished you dead when you walked by or screamed that you should die when they saw you on TV can now say things where you can hear them. These people are assholes but they are assholes who have existed for 4,000 years and the ratio of assholes to actual deaths is really low. If there is a credible threat and a legitimate reason to be worried, we should all be worried. But if its the hate mail equivalent of a shoe bomber, for gods sake, stop letting these idiots get fame, press and, too often, the power to cancel things and make women stay home afraid to go out.
