i think i know why ive always loved movies. cinema is the only media that can potentially tell something to everyone, without actually tellng you literally. narratve/dialogue, score, and cinematography collectively tell you something with literally going "i am a film, and im telling you this." you dont have to imagine the rest, like you do with a book. you dont have to play through and put your own spin, like you do with game. you and everyone else get to sit there and instead of competing for everyones own word in, everyone gets to just shut the hell up for once and really just feel something without yelling over it that its wrong before you even consider what its saying. everyone can seriously experience exactly (as much as possible) what a flm is getting at. imagine if people could do that to each other, just touch them and convey exactly an emotion, experience, or memory. can you even imagine how little we comprehend reality without such a talent? we are such stubborn things. some of us even fight with a movie. "how longs this movie again? GEEZ, who wants to sit there wasting 3 hours of their day like that?!"... goes home and sits on couch for 5 hours, facebook for 2, sleeps for 8 hours, and works for 9... yeah, whod wanna watch a movie, and open your mind to something beyond your other 21 hours of self-authority and compensation? by compensation i mean that self-defensive reply of "well i live in the real world and youre just a daydreaming loser," by self authority, i mean the arrogance to just assert your conception of your own superiority, based on nothing.
