i thought it was about time that someone explained to the general public why the nhs staff are planning to strike on thursday 29th Jan. what you hear on the news is only what the government want you to think. NHS staff have not had a pay increase for 4 years, last april the workers that are on the top of there pay scale got a 1% non consolidated pay increase non consolidated means it does not increase your hourly rate and will be taken away again this april. workers that are not on the top of there pay band got nothing.this went against their own government pay reveue body that concluded that everynoe should get 1%. Me personaly got an extra £16.00 a month thats an increase of £16.00 in 4 years and its about to be taken away in april also the government want to freeze our pay until 2017. There is also a very good reason why the nhs has taken a slagging of every day for the past month they want you to think that the service cant cope and that it is rubbish so when they try and privatise it the public will think oh well it was rubbish anyway so they might as well get rid of it. Also in the pipeline is cuts to unsocial hours payments and cuts to weekend and bank holiday pay. i hope this explains a bit why we feel the need to strike enough is enough
