i was hung up and shoveled around, fed up but wound it down ... a lazy no-good couch wetter, a do-one-better go getter ... in some scrapes and shitscapes ... had nasty aches, cold shakes but the occasional break ... bled upon but the spots are gone, but i know theyre there as if anyone cares ... a real nightmare but I got out of there, stuck by the road, but i had a spare ... reached for mars but only got so far ... to the third floor in fact with my dignity intact ... not one to put on airs, i took the stairs, out of breath but what the heck ... stiffer joints but i got to the point ... laughed with the blokes and floated some notes but with a different beat, what a treat ... took a ride and tried to fly, came down hard but glad i tried, blew my shock and twisted some spokes but in the end theres always hope ... a sharp stick in the eye but i never cry, though who am i kidding, i guess thats a lie ... im no dope so i dropped the rope, in the big tug of war, just couldnt stand it any more ... left it behind and paid it no mind, hit some bumps and climbed out of some slumps ... never too blind to see without glasses, still made some headway but slow as molasses ... pled my case right to her face, but before the race, i left with no trace ... came in last but my machine felt fast, red stripes down my back, black marks down the track ... though you step on the gas youre just neck and neck, spin out and hit the wall, youre a burned out wreck ... its true what they say, you can never go home, cant get there any more, the signs are all gone ... just enjoying the drone, of my engine in idle, guess thats the title of the whole trashy novel ... but the hearts not empty, not even close, though its upside down and full of ghosts ... ...missed some folks ...but thats how it goes ...a bruise on the soul ...but on the whole ...an ok year.
