i was showing a house today out in what we used to call the boonies....well back in 1981 i had sold a house over the hill for a very nice couple that when i presented them 2 offers at the same time on their home asked me to leave the conference room for a while so they could discuss the offers with their young sons....when i came back in the room they told me they would accepet the lower offer (by10,000$ lower )....when i asked why they replied because we liked how this couple walked thru our house...( the couple wasnt in the house 15 minutes). I kept in touch for a while before loosing touch although i would still ask people from the area how they were doing off and on..Well today i happened to show a house 1/2 mile away so after the showing i stopped at his house ( his wife had passed a decade or so ago) and there were lot of grandkids and several of his sons in the yard..one took me in to see his now 91 year old dad...the sons remembered my name and the conference room meeting....the man remembered me and then started laughing as he recalled taking me down a hill on his snow mobile at about 198 mph as i was scared shitless. we all laughed at the memory.well the stop for a minute to say hi became a 1 1/2 hour visit looking at a tractor he rebuilt, a saw mill he made..a contraption to sharpen 4 in diameter hoop chains he had rigged, and a ride in his golf cart to see more of the boys and more tractors...then when i said i had to leave for another appointment he took me back still on the golf cart but with a gleam in his eye drove rapidly for a drop off bank down to the creek as if we were going to redo the snowmobile ride....this family sure made my day....again....they are what family life is all about.
