i would like to take this opportunity to wish all 25 candidates vying for the 12 spots in the MPF council tomorrow the very best of luck. the 12 elected council members will join Rezal Jamaluddin who will carry the burden to not only legalize the sports in the eyes of the relevant authorities, but also to make sure its place in the national sports mainstream with the ministry of youth and sports for many years to come. the hopes of thousands of paintballers throughout the nation rests in the hands of 13 men & women representing the many registered clubs with the sports commissioner. it is however, barely scratching the surface of whats really playing in the minds of most paintballers & activists out there....will the MPF represent the dealers/vendors, event organizers, field operators, marshalling body/ies and the like? looking at the list of candidates for the various posts, naturally begs the question if recball/scenario paintball will be represented or will be treated like a distant cousin to speedball? will the formation of the MPF will close the widening gap between the warring factions in paintball and unify us once and for all? the optimist in me believes it can. it should and it will. my reason is simple; all 26 contenders for the various posts in the MPF contest with various intentions (myself included) clearly stated or not. you cant escape it. these guys (and girls) put their necks in the firing line of the thousands of armchair critics out there must believe in something. or why would they do it? financial inducements? dream on pal...this is the MPF, not the FAM. they represent the interest of certain sections of the industry? why not...what guarantees that the new line-up tomorrow will fight for the rights of other than the players? so yes, their nomination to a certain degree comes with a slight pinch of patronship from the various section of the industry. is it a healthy thing is it not? I leave it up to you all to decide as we surely differ in matters of principle. to that end, unlike my other fellow candidates, I will not enter into our meeting tomorrow with a manifesto but I will instead offer my humble pledge... If elected tomorrow, I pledge to ensure that those placed into the position of power tomorrow to wholeheartedly represent the various segments of the sports; be it individual players, dealers, event organizers, marshalling bodies & clubs. I will comment, criticize, advise & offer solutions to the many challenges facing the sport todate without fear or favour. as I have no known allegiance to any parties, I believe I can (and have done in the past) and will continue to do so until such time my services & expertise are no longer required by the leadership of the MPF. I pledge to remain supportive of our newly elected President for as long as he remains on course to his promise to put paintball in a better place in the industry, legalize our equipment & settle the impasse currently faced with the PDRM. he is a capable man and for as long as I have known him, Loco is not someone who understands the meaning of failure or losing. I believe he is the best man for the job, and the mandate the 80 odd clubs have given him is further proof of their belief in him. Loco of all people understands the heavy burden placed upon his shoulders better than anyone and he needs serious people to work with him. most importantly, he knows that I will hold no punches if he steps out of line. Im honoured that Loco asked me to contest because he needs capable people to assist him in this arduous task. but like him, I too understand the tremendous pressure that lies ahead and the hard work we will have to partake. on that note fellow candidates, lets make a promise to ourselves to take our candidacy seriously and honour our club members who have bestowed upon us the honour of representing their voice & hopes through their nominations. let us not let them down, for by doing so, we have let ourselves down. how do we step onto the field the next week, next month, next year knowing full well that we have betrayed their trust in us? I know I cant.... I know wont. so heres wishing everyone a good & productive meeting tomorrow and may the Lord bless us with His grace so that our meeting will give us the wisdom to find the right path, the courage to choose it and the strength to make it endure.
