iEARN ends workshop for returning students By Michael T. Kamara The International Education and Resource Network (iEARN) has on Tuesday 25th June 2013 ended a two days’ re-adaption workshop for five of its students who have just flee in the country from a one year study program in United State of America. Addressing other students of the organization and the media at the National Stadium Hostel in Freetown, the founder of iEARN and the Country Director of Kennedy Luga Youth Exchange and Scholarship Programme, Madam Jane Peters said the iEARN is operating in 163 countries worldwide, and that, iEARN is partnering with the United States Embassy in Sierra Leone and other countries in sending high school pupils to the USA on a one year program under the Kennedy Luga Youth Exchange and Scholarship program, during which student interact and share cultural talents with each other. According to her, the iEARN program started twelve years ago, and that, the study trip started in 2009. She maintained that, they have sent four batches for the study including the five students that have just returned in recently. She went on that, the workshop was organized for the incoming student to re-adapt to the style and system of Sierra Leone after a year in the States, and that it was also organized for the incoming students to share their talents to the rest of the iEARN students. She noted that since the commencement of the migration program in 2009, they have sent seventeen students through the program whom have benefited a lot. According to her, more eight students from the organization will leave for the USA October this year. She further maintained that, the iEARN program is not only limited in Freetown, but also in Bo, Kono and Makeni. The students she said are getting several skills and talents like, computer classes, video shooting and editing classes, movie production classes amongst others. One of the beneficiaries, Kadiatu A. Sesay said it was a big opportunity for them, and that, they thanked the brain beyond the program Madam Jane Peters. She revealed that, they have acquired a lot of cultural and educational talents. She noted that, she was excited to be in Sierra Leone again, and ended up by advised the students who will go in October to adapt the USA system and to be careful with everything they do.
