iMPeRFeCT Gallery For Immediate Release: Ceramics is more than a pottery medium. It’s a versatile material that can be used to produce works of art with surprisingly original looks. That’s certainly so with some recent work of Douglas M. Herren, which will be on view at Germantown’s iMPeRFeCT Gallery, October 11 through November 1, 2014 in a show titled “Ludico” (“playful” in Spanish). Herren’s career has included numerous high profile exhibitions and artist-in-residences, as well as teaching stints at schools such as Swarthmore and the Moore College of Art and Design. For the iMPeRFeCT show his work moves away from traditional pottery to a more industrial and playground sculpture look, with colorful paints and stains rather than pottery glaze. In the Red Room section of iMPeRFeCT, another show will be running in this same October-November period. It’s a political call to action by Robert J. Brand titled “THEY Don’t Want You to VOTE.” Brand uses photos of characters you probably wish didn’t have political power these days but do, largely because voters who could rid us of their policies, don’t take the opportunity to do so by voting against them. These visuals are interspersed with the Red Room’s own existing wall graffiti. Herren and Brand at iMPeRFeCT from October 11-November 1, with an Opening Day Reception on Saturday, Oct. 11th, 2014 6 - 9pm. iMPeRFeCT Gallery 5601 Greene St. Germantown Phila, PA 19144 Renny Molenaar (917) 957-4504 renny@rennymolenaar Rocio Cabello (215) 869-1001 dewdropny@aol imperfectgallery
