iPACE-Mandalay trainer, Harry recently took a trip to London where he was a guest speaker at a public lecture, Right Speech, Online Counter-Speech and the Case of Burma/Myanmar on November 21-22 at St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford. The lecture event was jointly organized with the Programme in Modern Burmese Studies, Oxford Internet Institute, and the Oxford University Law Faculty. Harry spoke on a panel chaired by Dr Matthew J Walton of St Antonys College. During his time in London Harry was interviewed about his interfaith activism by The Elders, an independent group of global leaders who work together for peace and human rights. In the interview Harry talks about his involvement with the interfaith peace movement, Panzagar anti hate-speech movement, and the founding of local CSO The Seagull. “Interfaith trust doesn’t just happen in a dialogue between religious leaders. We also need to build trust between people by organising interfaith activities at the community level, ensuring that people from different religions have contact with one another. When people are engaged with each other and see that every community is suffering, they gain more trust and understanding.” theelders.org/article/fostering-interfaith-trust-and-right-speech-myanmar #WorldLearning #Myanmar #iPACE
