iPhone Siri & Dictation. Are you disinclined to type SMS - TopicsExpress

iPhone Siri & Dictation. Are you disinclined to type SMS messages and would rather make a call? Is it a fact that sometimes its all too hard, the mistakes, fumbling and the amount of time it takes to get a reasonable message, punctuated with some reliable content to a recipient? Do you ever wish you could type SMS messages on the pc keyboard? (Thats another story for another day, you can!) Dont even mention Fat fingers! Well have you ever noticed the microphone button on the left of the space bar on the iPhone keyboard when in the message screen? You may have accidentally hit it a times and thought, quick, get out of here! What is this? Well this time when typing and SMS give it a go. It is the Dictation part of an iPhone which Siri does for you. Now you may be thinking, Siri never got any of my questions correct, I tried to ring Harry, got Barry, tried to ring Matt, i was confronted with Cant find Max in your contact list The only word Siri ever got right was Cancel which she replied to with Ok so why would it ever work here? Well i dont know, but it does work. On some words, pronunciation is required but whats wrong with correct pronunciation? Try it next time you write an SMS, you may be surprised. As you will see in the pictures, it does take a little effort to get perfect and you can always edit the message before sending. However its almost easier deleting and starting the message again. Punctuation can be added. Full Stop, Comma, Exclamation mark, etc. You will always have issues with some words, plane, plain (pictured) earthen / urban / Bourbon, cameron / cameran / cameren / fat/that/yak/ etc, PS. if you dont have the microphone icon displayed on the left of the keyboard, you need to go into Settings General Siri and enable Siri. Good Luck & Enjoy..
