if i was writing the script about the nfl draft (and yes theyre making the damn movie) i would start the movie in the future. an old man and a young 30 something man are talking. could be anywhere but probably either in a home at a bedside or in the hospital. it feels like this happens a lot. very good friends. familiar with each other and their families. its the beginning of the nfl season but the old man tells the younger he is dying. he has cancer. play this one for me champ. oh the feels. this repeats. the season progresses. the relationship between the two men are seen more. the two men tell stories. remember when.. they talk football but the older man is proud. the younger is going to play in a super bowl. he is a starting Blah. doesnt matter. probably a qb since qbs are darlings but it would be better if it was just some other position. like a rb or a wr. you assume at this point since the guy is GREAT he was a #1 pick. so finally half way thru the movie flashes back. to the guy in college. he sucks. the older guy ends up being a scout of a team. the movie progresses and the guy isnt horrible. he needs to be coached up. the scout sees that in him. he is the only one that sees it in him. he is his greatest advocate and wants him for the team. you get the idea. so the year goes by the scouts swarm. all the attention goes to the GREAT players. the GOOD players. where is the main character? he isnt great in college. maybe a fringe player. but he shows flashes. he doesnt even know if he is gonna be drafted. flashes back to the present. the guy leaves the guys bedside a final time. goes to the stadium. they are in the city wherever the super bowl is. its that sunday. he does something GREAT. he wins the super bowl. him and his team. 80 yard pass. 80 yard run. 80 yard pick 6. whatever. or maybe a kr/pr for td. doesnt matter. so it flashes back as the game is ending. the confetti is streaming down. they won the whole thing.
