if we cant even win with play money how we gonna win for real? That is something Ryan wrote yesterday. And I want to discuss that in brief before we make any plays tonight. I discussed with Garnet in private at the end of last month why he was doing very poorly in the group. I know Garnet. He is a smart guy. And he knows how to bet horses. So do I. So does Ryan. And a few others in here have varying degrees of ability that maybe are not showing up in the plays they make in here with play money. So, I told Garnet what I will tell you. Any play you make in here, you should be willing to make with real money. Obviously, not the amounts that we play in here. Most of us dont play those larger amounts on a nightly basis. Some, like Ryan, actually bet higher amounts as a rule rather than the exception. None of that should matter. What matters is that you make the same plays in here with play money that you make in your real account with real money or at the track with money out of your pocket. If you treat it like play money, and just bet whatever, because it doesnt matter, you will surely lose. As Garnet has. The one big score he made in here was a bet he also made in his real account. That is the point. If I give you a pick in here, I am certainly betting it at home. You can bank on that. I did cancel a bet in here that I didnt get to cancel in my home account, but that was because I couldnt get it cancelled in time. Not because I wouldnt have. What I see are people just throwing up picks because they dont think it matters. If you do that, you are just wasting your time. The idea is to show what you are good at, where you have real holes as a bettor, and how you might improve. And to some extent, who you might want to listen to and follow. Ryan has earned my respect with his consistent solid value plays. I pay attention when he posts a pick. I dont always play it, or follow him. But, I at least take a look at that horse. Because he gets results. That is all that matters. No matter what your system is, or even if you have no system, the key is getting results. That is part of the reason I will ask questions from time to time of some who make picks. I want to see why you chose what you chose. Then, I can make a decision on if that seems like a good play to me. If you consistently get it wrong, I will obviously pretty much discount anything you bet. Because basically it shows that you put little effort in it and likely would lose your bankroll by the end of the month just about every month. So, hopefully all of use can do better going forward, and learn from each other to make us better bettors in the real world and start making consistent money. Good luck tonight. I might have a few plays if the odds are in my favor. Lately, I have not been sticking to that and burned a lot of money on low value horses that burned me. Lesson learned.
