ift.tt/1wl9XXw All Hallows Eve - $100 Cash Costume ContestFriday,October 31ST @ 10 PM Live Music by Paprika, $100 Cash Costume Contest, Halloween Games with tons of great prizes hosted by various performers from B Productions There is no place like Branded Saloon to celebrate the Halloween Season. Designer Tammy Kopko transforms the quaint Brooklyn watering hole into a creepy, corn stalked filled setting draped with wooden crosses and disturbing life size figurines built by Kopko. Before bringing her ghoulish expertise to NYC, Kopko worked with designers from Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando, Florida for eight seasons . My design for Branded was inspired by a collection of ideas from various Horror Films, Kopko says. I remember seeing movies like Deliverance, I Spit On Your Grave and Children of the Corn when I was a kid and loving the rush I would get from being scared. I tried to recreate those childhood feelings in my design. Kopkos Installation will be up till November 2 at Branded Saloon, Brooklyn. Tuesday - 10.21.2014 Show & Tale: Scars, Tats & Piercings6:30pm Join me for an evening of telling the stories etched into our skins. Many of us are physically changed. Some by our own design (to commemorate that new found love; to forget that painful break-up; to show the world your allegiance to an author, a musician, a way of thinking). Some by our own run-in with an accident or mistake (like that time you had the situation with that car window) or an illness. And some by our need to just change. With these changes come stories. Come show us your life story etched into your skin! Of course you are welcome to simply come to look & listen. ift.tt/1vpIwhW Baring skin & souls, Martie *****Tuesday - 10.21.2014 Tammy Wynettes White Trash Bingo at 8pm (front room)8:00pm Ever since her humble beginnings in SW Florida picking Mushrooms from Cow Patties to drinkin Southern Comfort out the back of a 8 Foot Tall Monster Truck in Six Mile Cypress Swamp, Tammy Wynette has embraced her Southern Roots. Upon leaving San Francisco, a fundraiser was held by both enthusiasts and professionals alike to start the Warzone, sending him off to New York City saying “show them how we do it.” His events consist of a positive and jovial environment where people celebrate what karaoke is all about, transforming pop music into folk music and making extroverts go too far. *****Tuesday - 10.21.2014 Poker night8:00pmFree to play! Their latest album titled The end is near, Im not prepared is scheduled for release in March 2014. On their new record their focus was to create more sonically charged fast paced postpunk indiepo shoegaze anthems that would appeal to a broader audience. Their music has appeared in many compilations and tribute albums, documentaries as well as on MTV, A&E, Discovery Channel, Alli Sports TV, and more. For fans of wavves, a place to bury strangers, the jesus and mary chain, the ramones, manhattan love suicides, etc. *****Friday - 10.24.2014 The Vacant Stalls11:00pm Its rare to hear a band that doesnt sound like anything youve ever heard, and rarer still to hear one that also puts a smile on your face. How many great bands turn their backs on putting out the same old shit only to release records so calculatingly out there they feel like math homework? They forget that music is supposed to be fun. The Stalls will never forget. With a touch of 50s Rock & Roll, 60s Psych, 70s Punk, 80s New Wave and 90s Nostalgia, The Vacant Stalls channel the past but sound like little else right now; a band searching for rediscovery unfortunately situated in the constantly-shifting present. *****Saturday - 10.25.2014 Talking Band presents The Golden Toad, Part IV - Written and Directed by Paul Zimet. American Theater magazine has deemed them one of the most exceptional theater companies in the country. The Golden Toad exemplifies the Talking Bands artistry. Written Ellen Maddow and Paul Zimet, and directed by Zimet, and featuring songs by Ellen Maddow and Elizabeth Swados, the work investigates the essence of character and identity, tracking a diverse set of characters over years and shifting circumstances *****Saturday - 10.25.2014 Jackie Paladino11:30pm Born in New York and raised in central New Jersey, Jackie Paladino is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter whose voice has been compared to the likes of Amy Winehouse, Billie Holiday, and Adele. She was introduced to the piano at the age of six, and developed her understanding of storytelling and performance through off-Broadway theatre, dance competitions, and musical vocational school. It wasnt until Jackie returned to her birth state to attend the music theatre program at NYUs Tisch School of the Arts that she discovered her true calling. When everyone else was memorizing lines to songs and stories, I was writing my own stories through song, belting out the tunes of Etta James, Duffy, and Regina Spektor along the way. Always an avid reader of poetry, she found herself delving deeply into the works of Leonard Cohen and Fiona Apple, entranced by the precision and mystery of their word choice. As an artist, Ms. Paladino seeks to combine this sense of lyric perfectionism and her urgency to mold the ugly into something beautiful along with the power and soul of her favorite songstresses. She is a Bloomworld Music Artist and is managed by Hakim Bell. *****Sunday - 10.26.2014 Talking Band presents The Golden Toad, Part IV - Written and Directed by Paul Zimet.
