ift.tt/eA8V8J Sorry if these are getting repetitive. I cant really alter my writing style for kicks. Biography Spencer Abbott is yet another good ol Toranna boy (close enough), specifically born in Hamilton, Ontario (okay hes a southeastern Ontaria boy alright?) on April 30th, 1988. He played for the University of Maine in the H-East league, as well as the Hamilton Red Wings of the OPJHL. He went undrafted, and after 4 years at Maine, he was signed by the greatest team in the world, our Toronto Maple Leafs. In his 4th season at Maine, he was the runner up for the Hobey Baker award (its like the Heisman but for hockey and way less prestigious). Abbott is a slick offensive player, who has been steadily putting up points for the second best team in the world, the Marlies, over the past 3 seasons. He recently signed a contract with the Maple Leafs, signing for $575,000 on a 1-year, 2-way contract. Hes too good for the AHL at this point, but he has no foot in the door to a tough Maple Leafs roster to crack. His lack of size and NHL experience will likely be his downfall, which will probably see him back in the AHL to dominate. While deserving of a real opportunity in the NHL, he likely wont get that chance this season. Abbott is nearing the middle of his prime years at 26 years old, so the time to make a tough decision is coming close for Abbott. Be it this offseason where we let him be a victim to waivers, or in a couple seasons when he no longer has RFA status.
